The course covers basic electrical theory. The focus is on basic electrical circuit analysis in DC and AC circuits, including power and energy calculations. In addition, theory and calculations on basic electronics are included. The following areas are covered:
  • basic electrical components such as batteries, resistors, capacitors, inductors (coils), diodes, and applications like rectifiers.
  • basic circuit theory laws such as Ohm's and Kirchhoff's laws, single-ports (Thévenin and Norton), superposition, power, and energy calculations.
  • impedance, phasors, and knowledge about the complex method, resonance, active power, reactive power, and apparent power.
  • how to sum power in and compensate for reactive power in AC circuits.
  • rectifiers and operational amplifiers and their applications.
