Thermal Spray Coatings for Improved Performance of Light Alloys - SprayLight
The aim of this project is to study the feasibility of implementing advanced wear resistant coatings produced by different thermal spray (TS) processes with different coating materials on light alloys. This will be investigated as a case study of their potential application for replacing steel components with coated aluminium alloy in heavy fan blades. The pros and cons of applying TS coatings in this application will be analysed within this project making a suitable platform for further research and development in this area.
